John Digweed & Nick Muir - Bilder(Club Mix)[Bedrock]

Definitely the most forward-thinking producer there is, Bedrock boss John Digweed and long time partner Nick Muir release yet another massive EP. This mix is my favourite, dished out a club version of the original, really telling a story here these two, great melodies and a perfect track altogether. Part of the Bilder EP, which also features a remix from the trio Wiretappeur(Kruse, Nuernberg and Stel), who are on fire these days dropping some quality deep numbers with rich atmospherics. Not something you should miss !

Marek Hemmann feat. Fabian Reichelt - Left[Freude Am Tanzen]

Wicked track this, caught my attention when I spotted it in BerMuDa's City Sound Berlin compilation released recently. Really feel good vibe to this one, ambient violin loops and percussive samples supplemented with laid back vocals by Fabian Reichelt. Part of the Left / Right EP released midway through the year on Freude Am Tanzen, should give it a listen if you missed out on it.

Release Date : 05-10 | Set fit : Warmup, Finish | Time of the day : Afternoon, Late Night

Part of the Tree Dance(Remixes) EP, which also features Acumen and Milton Jackson's remixes. Tom Hosts a monthly radio show called ALiVE on Proton Radio, as well as his own ALiVE party in Southampton.

Attention all producers, you'll wanna check this out !

Marc Romboy caught up with Robert Babicz at his studio for some tech talk and discussion on the age old Analog Vs. Digital debate. The clip features Roland's drum machine TR-909, bass synthesizer TB-303, the NI's compose-on-the-fly groove box Maschine, and some cool apps for the iPad that I couldn't place.

John Digweed, as we all now, the godfather of eclectic electronica, posted this set on Mixcloud, featuring some revolutionary tunes to be released on Bedrock. Babicz's Pink Trees being of them, massive track from the acid monster, do hear this one !

Russ Gabriel - Out to Lunch[Dieb Audio]

Jaytech's November Podcast might have just rekindled my love for Progressive House / Progressive / Trance. Kickass tunes in there, make sure you give it a hear.

And now to the single in focus, Russ Gabriel's Knossos EP released on November 15th, 2010 on Dieb Audio features some deep tech-house with strong influences of the Detroit sound. Being supported by names like Guy J, Shlomi Aber, Josh Wink, Danny Howells, Mihalis Safras and many more, this EP comes with four tracks, 'Out to Lunch' being my favorite, a perfect combination of tribal housey groovey percussion and dubby progressive goodness.

Fritz Kalkbrenner - Facing the sun[Suol Recordings]

                                            suol_21_b_500
Meet the sober half of the Kalkbrenner family. After listening to so much mind bending / numbing / twisting techno / house  whatever you call it, once in a while there comes a track which makes you feel like life's just perfect. Already performed with Sascha Funke on his hit single Forms and Shapes and with brother Paul on Sky and Sand in 2008, he is on a roll right now with that beautiful soothing voice and heart-warming lyrics.

The EP also comes with remixes by Sascha Funke and Paul Kalkbrenner.

Check it out ! You can sing along if you like.

Lyrics :
we will facing the sun - waiting for these things to come - we smiling high - watching the good things passing by - pretend the feelings fine - but inside we're crying sometime - it aint what it seems - nothing but a dream - and the faces get void - and the lights getting thin - and the roads become uneven - so we dont know where we been - and those who doubt us - will soon believe - we are never supposed to win - or even to achieve

The man of the hour - Deadmau5

Let's face it - You can't classify his music. He calls DJ's f***ing c**ts. And you cannot get enough of his Mau5head(Pronounced mousehead).

Descending from Toronto, Canada, Joel Zimmerman has taken the entire EDM industry by storm. Whether it's his music, or the antics, the guy is massive all over the world. People literally describe him as 'awe'some.

His performances have turned more into live shows with eye-popping visuals, tons of energy and last but not the least, the Mau5head he wears, essentially a number of LED's, which goes bopping up and down. He has become the commercial face of EDM to the world, along the likes of David Guetta. He has worked with loads of artists like Melleefresh, Kaskade and more recently SOFI(SomeOtherFemaleInterest) and done remixes for Hybrid and the French house music duo Daft Punk. His music never sticks to any particular sub-genre and he never ventures for too long in one, during a set, yet he manages to push his trademark sound, that's gotten so many addicted. During his performances, he mixes and mashes his tracks in a way that can only be experienced live.

Gearing up for his UK Winter Tour this year, he managed to release a monster track 'Sofi needs a ladder' in collaboration with SOFI, under his label 'Mau5trap'. His album 4X4=12 will officially be released on December 6th which includes his other hit 'Animal Rights' and also features 'Raise your Weapon'. And if this guy is playing in your city, you'd be a fool to miss
it !

The journey begins...

To mark the commencement of this blog, I've compiled a list of 10 must hear classics from the years that went by. If your new to Electronic Dance Music, I suggest you hear these to get acquainted with the styles and sounds of the artists pushing this phenomenon.

1.   Axwell - Watch the Sunrise[Axtone Records]
The tune of 2007, this was one of the tracks that got me hooked to the scene.

2.  John Digweed - Gridlock(Henry Saiz Remix)[Renaissance]
Something from 2008, sick tune with Henry's trademark dark paranoia style, tripped a good deal on this !

3.  Fusion F & Come T - Responsibility(Karim Shaker remix)[Fruit Machine]
A little more recent, I couldn't get this one out of my head.

4.  Daniel Portman - Battle Scars[Dyami Records]

5.  Pryda a.k.a. Eric Prydz - Lift[Pryda Recordings]

6. Miles Dyson - The Anthem[Plasma]
Massive Electro track from the Breaks producer Miles Dyson.

7.  Ian O'Donovan - Aurora Borealis[Bedrock]
Monster progressive track on John Digweed's label, just when you think the frequencies can't be pushed more, something comes along to prove you wrong.

8.  Wiretappeur - My Real Name is[Bedrock]
Kruse & Nuernberg team up with  DJ Stel to come up with this progressive-deep-house track, great stuff !

9.  Guy J - Geko[Bedrock]
This crazy man from Israel takes you on a journey through the minimal / progressive barrier.

10.  Gui Boratto - No Turning Back[Kompakt]
Classic from the architect(and I mean litreally), this track was on every one's mind a couple of months back.
